Ted Cruz faces harsh mockery for saying, ‘Let’s stop attacking pedophiles’ in an uncomfortable mistake

Embarrassing Slip at Senate Hearing

Texas Senator Ted Cruz faced ridicule after making an awkward statement during a hearing focused on crime in a Democratic-led city. At the session, where conservative voices urged a “bipartisan agreement” to enhance safety in these areas, Cruz’s comments stood out.

“How about we all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop the murders,'” Cruz urged, adding, “Let us all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop rape.’ We all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop attacking pedophiles.'” The 54-year-old quickly tried to pivot his remarks, shifting to commend President Trump’s decision regarding the deployment of the National Guard in Washington, D.C.

Critics were swift to pounce on his comments, connecting them to ongoing discussions related to the late Jeffrey Epstein and his notorious past. “No! You stop protecting them all. Release the Epstein Files now!” a user on social media demanded.

Another called it a “Freudian slip,” while others mocked Cruz with images and sarcastic remarks about his choice of words.

Some commentators found humor in the slip, with a few saying things like, “mean, guys, let them.” The hearing, titled “Blue City Chaos and Tragedy: Addressing the Human Costs of Soft Criminal Policies,” echoed sentiments Cruz expressed the previous week.

Referring to remarks made by Senator Booker advocating for bipartisan cooperation, Cruz stated, “I think that’s a great idea.” However, up until Wednesday morning, he had yet to clarify his earlier comments regarding pedophiles.
