Gang member connected to NYC hookah lounge shooting that resulted in 3 deaths and 10 injuries, according to federal authorities

A well-known member of the Bloods gang was captured on video during her arrest at a hookah lounge in Brooklyn on Wednesday. Three individuals have been accused of causing deaths, with ten others reported injured, according to federal prosecutors.

Elijah “Elispice” Roy, 25, identified as an “associate” of the 5-9 Brims Blood Crew, is alleged to have participated in a deadly shootout with rival gang members that occurred on August 17 at the bustling lounge. Officials from the Eastern District of New York confirmed the details.

“This blatant disregard for human life cannot go unpunished,” said U.S. Attorney Joseph Nosera in a statement. He expressed his office’s commitment, along with law enforcement, to eliminate gangs from the area. “I hope this arrest brings some solace to the families of the victims and the survivors who have suffered from this atrocious act.”

According to Nosera, the situation turned the packed club into something resembling a “kill zone.”

Video footage captured the moment when several gang members entered the crowded venue and opened fire on their rivals, who were positioned across the room.

Among those killed was Marvin St. Louis, one of the identified members of the 5-9 Brims.

Prosecutors recounted that Roy and his associates approached the lounge around 3 a.m. and confronted members of the rival Folk Nation gang, with Jamel Childs being one of the victims who perished during the gunfire.

Following the incident, Roy fled New York City and was eventually apprehended by federal agents on September 18. He now faces charges for his involvement in the assault and for being a felon in possession of ammunition.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish commented on the situation, stating, “The charges against Elijah Roy signify our commitment to breaking down the violent street gangs that threaten our community with illegal weapons. A suspect from the 5-9 Brims gang turned that packed club into a scene of chaos when he shot at his rivals.”
