Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson Reuniting for Netflix Documentary

Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson are reportedly joining forces for a new Netflix documentary.

The two former One Direction members are set to embark on road trips across the United States as part of this project. They’re expected to share stories and memories about their time with the boy band, including reflections on their late bandmate, Liam Payne, according to sources.

Filming has apparently already kicked off, and the documentary is projected to be available by next year.

Malik, who is 32, along with Tomlinson, 33, has entered into a multi-million-dollar agreement with the streaming service.

“This is a major project for Netflix and is sure to excite the global community of One Direction fans,” a source mentioned.

The insider also suggested that this could be a moment for some serious reflection and heartfelt discussions about the incredible journey the group has had since its inception on The X Factor 15 years ago.

Representatives for Malik and Tomlinson haven’t yet responded to requests for comments.

One Direction, originally featuring Malik, Tomlinson, Payne, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan, took an indefinite hiatus in January 2016, although Malik had departed the group in early 2015.

Payne sadly passed away in October 2024 after a fall from his hotel room in Buenos Aires. Toxicology reports later indicated he had several substances in his system at the time.

Malik, Tomlinson, Horan, and Styles reunited in the UK for Payne’s funeral on November 20th, a poignant moment for the group.

Interestingly, there had been discussions among all five members about a potential reunion show just days before Payne’s tragic passing at the age of 31. This sense of what could have been almost hangs in the air now.

Malik has previously opened up about some negative experiences in One Direction, touching on feelings of being misunderstood as an Asian artist. His song “Fuchsia Sea” explores those struggles, with lyrics that reflect on his hard work in a band that was often oblivious to such issues.

One Direction was assembled in 2010 after individual auditions on The X Factor, thanks to the judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, and Louis Walsh. Each member has since pursued solo careers, with Styles achieving significant recognition, including a Grammy for Album of the Year in 2023 for “Harry’s House.”
