Kylie Kelce shared her emotional experience of learning about her miscarriage, describing it as a moment that felt like it was unfolding in slow motion.
On her “Don’t Lie” podcast, she opened up about the painful journey she and her husband, former Eagles Center Jason Kelce, went through. Despite being a mother of four, she emphasized that the pain of such a loss doesn’t just disappear after having children. She acknowledged those still on their own journey to parenthood, expressing empathy for their struggles. It’s crucial to recognize that the heartache remains, even after welcoming new life.
Kylie revealed that she discovered she was pregnant in August 2018. However, during a routine 13-week appointment, she was given heartbreaking news. The atmosphere felt heavy and slow as she sat in the room. As they attempted to use the Doppler machine, it became clear there was no heartbeat.
She recalled the moment, sharing, “I was almost expecting something… but then hearing, ‘Oh, there’s no heartbeat.’ It was surreal.” Taking a breath, she wiped away her tears before continuing.
The medical team estimated that the baby had stopped developing between nine and ten weeks, which is what they refer to as a missed miscarriage. Tragically, Kylie learned of the loss on Jason’s 31st birthday, a day she struggled to navigate while delivering the devastating news.
“It was his birthday, and I just couldn’t bring myself to tell him,” she admitted, reflecting on how it felt absurd to share such news on that day. “It was tough.”
Talking about the experience with other people, especially her mother, helped her cope. Kylie mentioned that she is very open about her feelings and has found comfort in discussing her loss with those who understand. “I think about how comparing losses can feel like comparing apples to oranges. They are all significant,” she noted.
As she spoke during Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, Kylie highlighted that she welcomed her first daughter, Wyatt, in October 2019. The couple added another daughter, Eliotte, in March 2021, followed by their child Bennett in February 2023, and most recently, Finley, who arrived this April. Kylie’s journey has been a testament to resilience, especially since she and Jason tied the knot in 2018.
