Podcaster Discusses the Negative Impact of DEI Programs on Minorities

During his appearance on “The Charlie Kirk Show,” podcaster Brandon Tatum expressed skepticism regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, suggesting they don’t effectively aid minorities.

Shortly after assuming office on January 20, President Donald Trump issued an executive order to terminate the federal government’s DEI initiatives. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth also announced plans to eliminate the promotional quotas linked to these initiatives in a speech given earlier this week. Former police officer Tatum communicated to guest hosts Andrew Corvette and Blake Neff that these programs often harmed the very individuals they aimed to support.

“These programs don’t have to artificially lift black people, because if you do, you end up lifting those who aren’t ready, which reflects poorly on all of us,” Tatum stated.

A report from the Econ Journal Watch highlighted findings from McKinsey and Company, indicating that companies embracing diversity often experience positive financial performance.

Several major U.S. companies, like McDonald’s, Walmart, and Coors, are moving away from DEI initiatives. For instance, Bud Light reported significant drops in sales following its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in 2023.

The Mountain States Legal Foundation filed a lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in April 2024, claiming the agency had dismissed over 1,000 applicants from a training initiative based on race.

Additionally, the organization Do No Harm lodged an EEOC complaint against the Regenerative Medicine (ARM) alliance in July 2024, objecting to an internship program open solely to black candidates.

The America First Legal Institute also pursued legal action against Disney in February 2024 over its inclusion standards, which prioritize “underrepresented” groups.
