Jay Cutler’s Prison Sentence is Over
Jay Cutler, the former Chicago Bears quarterback, has completed his short prison sentence. He was sentenced to four days in jail due to a misdemeanor DUI plea deal but was released after serving just three days.
Cutler entered the Williamson County, Tennessee, jail on a Monday and was out by Wednesday.
Last month, he pleaded guilty to one count of driving under the influence in a Tennessee court. He also had to give up a gun he possessed, although this action led to the dismissal of a charge related to weapon possession.
His legal troubles began last October when he allegedly rear-ended another vehicle in Franklin. Officers reported that his speech was slurred, and he declined to participate in a field sobriety test. Following this, blood samples were taken at a local hospital under a warrant.
In Cutler’s vehicle, authorities discovered both a rifle and a loaded pistol in the center console. Initially, he faced several charges, including DUI and possession of a handgun while being impaired. However, all charges, except the DUI, were dismissed through plea negotiations.
Now that his time in jail is done, Cutler must attend DUI safety classes and will be on unsupervised probation for a year. His driver’s license has been revoked, and he’s also facing a $350 fine.
During his NFL career, Cutler played 37 games for the Broncos before moving to the Bears, where he spent the majority of his 12 seasons. He threw for a total of 23,443 yards and 154 touchdowns during his time with Chicago, where the team only made the playoffs once under his leadership in 2010.
His overall NFL career statistics include 35,133 passing yards and 160 touchdowns across 153 games, with his last season being in 2017 with the Miami Dolphins.
