Wembanyama Ejected in Playoff Game

In a surprising turn of events, San Antonio Spurs player Victor Wembanyama was ejected during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals. This incident unfolded during a tense moment with Minnesota’s Naz Reid at the Target Center, occurring with 8 minutes and 39 seconds left in the first half.

Wembanyama, attempting to protect the ball after securing a rebound, accidentally swung his right elbow, making contact with Reid’s jaw. This action sent Reid to the ground, leaving Wembanyama’s teammate Dylan Harper momentarily taken aback by the near collision.

Initially, officials deemed the contact a common foul. But, with growing unrest from the Minnesota crowd, they opted for a video review. After reviewing the footage, they upgraded the call to a Flagrant 2 foul, resulting in Wembanyama’s immediate ejection.

Wembanyama ended his brief stint on the court with just 4 points and 4 rebounds over 12 minutes. His absence was particularly felt as the Spurs struggled to maintain their defensive strategy without him. Following the ejection, Reid went to the free-throw line and successfully made both shots.

This marked the first ejection of Wembanyama’s professional career, and it’s anticipated that the NBA may review the situation for further disciplinary measures.
