Taylor Swift’s New Album Sparks Speculation About Travis Kelce’s Ex

Did Taylor Swift hint at her new album through her connection with Travis Kelce? It seems she might think so.

Following the release of “Life of a Showgirl” on Friday, fans took to social media, sharing their thoughts on lyrics from the track “Opalite,” which many believe references Kayla Nicole.

One user wrote, “Taylor Swift called Kayla Nicole TF living at TS12 #ThelifeOfashowgril.” Another added, “Oparite – Sweet Songs and Kera’s Drill is a Wild AV.”

The lyrics suggest a personal connection, with a line indicating, “You couldn’t understand that. Why did you feel lonely? You were actually in it; she was on her phone, and you were just a pose.”

Many Swifties are convinced that Taylor Swift was talking about Kayla Nicole in “Opalite.” That said, the song’s lyrics seem to indicate that the host of the “Pre-Game with Kayla Nicole” podcast had a significant role alongside 35-year-old Kelce.

Nicole and Kelce began dating after some flirty exchanges on Instagram back in 2017, eventually moving to direct messages on New Year’s Day. Their on-and-off relationship lasted for about five years.

Since the tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs entered a relationship with Swift, Nicole has been frequently asked about her past with him.

In January 2024, the “Special Forces” alum mentioned on a podcast that she is attracted to men with power, implying that dating an athlete was a choice influenced by her preferences.

She also shared her enjoyment of dating someone in the entertainment industry, as it often leads to exciting outings, like attending sports events together.

In May, Nicole responded to critics urging her to move on from her breakup, saying, “Life handed me lemons, and I then made a lemon martini, which confused people.”

Interestingly, Swift has not publicly addressed Kelce’s past relationship with Nicole until possibly now with “Opalite.” A curious note is that Kelce’s birthday is October 5, which coincides with the opal and tourmaline birthstones.

While “Opalite” is among the tracks believed to be jabs at past romances, the speculation isn’t limited to that. Fans noted another line where Swift mentions being called a “boring Barbie.”

As of now, neither Swift nor her representatives have confirmed who inspired the lyrics, leaving the fan theories to brew.
