Obama Celebrates 33rd Anniversary on Social Media
Former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama marked their 33rd wedding anniversary with heartfelt messages on social media this past Friday.
Interestingly, both shared similar images on X within a minute of each other. Barack wrote, “The best decision I ever made was to marry you, @Michelleobama. For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, determination, and the fact that you do it all and look so good. A happy anniversary!”
Michelle responded with, “We’ve traveled quite a bit over the past 33 years, and today we love you more than the day we said, ‘I’ll do it.’ Happy anniversary, @barackobama!”
Over the years, the couple has commemorated various milestones online. Back in 2023, Barack, now 64, reflected on their 31st anniversary, describing Michelle as “brilliant, kind, interesting, and beautiful,” while Michelle, 61, expressed how much she enjoys sharing life with him.
The couple first met in 1989 while working at a law firm in Chicago. Michelle was tasked with helping Barack, a summer intern at the time, adapt to his new environment. She reminisced about their initial connection in a podcast episode from August, sharing how his voice caught her attention. “The first kind of sparkly feeling I actually felt was when I spoke to him on the phone; he had his Barack Obama voice. It was sexier than I imagined,” she recalled. It was a pleasant surprise for her, as she had only seen a not-so-great photo of him.
They have two daughters, Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24, and their relationship has clearly stood the test of time, marked by mutual admiration and affection.
