Homeland Security’s Stance on Super Bowl 60
Christie Noem, the Homeland Security Secretary, announced that immigration officials will enforce laws during Super Bowl 60 at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California. During an interview with Benny Johnson on “The Benny Show,” she discussed the potential presence of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the event, particularly in light of reggaeton artist Bad Bunny’s scheduled halftime performance.
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio and a three-time Grammy Award winner, expressed his decision to avoid performing in the U.S. on his next tour due to concerns about possible ICE actions at the show. It’s a troubling situation, really. I mean, he shouldn’t have to feel that way.
Noem emphasized her responsibility to ensure that everyone attending the Super Bowl has a safe experience. She asserted, “We’re all over the place,” indicating a wide range of enforcement efforts. Furthermore, she stated that attendees should be law-abiding individuals who “love this country.”
Johnson questioned Noem about Bad Bunny’s remarks regarding ICE, and she didn’t hold back. “They suck and we win,” she commented on the NFL, adding, “God will bless us, and we will stand up and be proud of ourselves.” She seems quite passionate about this, but also a bit intense, wouldn’t you say?
Noem warned of “unprecedented” threat levels for ICE agents and denied what she described as lies from Democrats regarding this issue. Earlier in the week, Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski had also cautioned about ICE’s presence at the game, stating, “We cannot provide safe shelters to those illegally in this country.” It’s a harsh reality, one that seems to be complicating the festive spirit usually associated with the Super Bowl.
Bad Bunny often speaks out against ICE raids, and he reflected on the tension surrounding his concerts, noting, “But there was a problem at my concert, something we were very worried about.” It’s a complicated relationship between an artist and the state, for sure.
As of now, Fox News Digital has reached out to the NFL for a response.
