Cowboys Rookie Jadon Blue Chooses Style Over Comfort
Jadon Blue, the rookie running back for the Cowboys, recently faced some discomfort after opting for a fashionable yet painful choice in footwear during practice. He wore Louis Vuitton cleats, which, as it turns out, led to blisters.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer mentioned his concerns, describing it as a “suspicious decision.” He remarked, “He went out with some cool new cleats: Louis Vuitton Nykes. But they give you blisters.” It seems Blue’s stylish choice backfired a bit.
Blue reflected on his experience, saying, “I was like, ‘What happened to the blue?’ and when I told the coach, ‘Oh, coach, I’m fine, I have blisters,’ he kind of just looked at me, noticing my flashy footwear.
Fortunately, Blue switched back to his usual cleats for Friday’s practice. Schottenheimer noted, “That’s just part of dealing with younger players. He changed his cleats quickly, and thankfully the blister wasn’t too severe.”
The Cowboys selected Blue in the fifth round of the draft this past April. He’s set to make his season debut against the Jets on Sunday after being a healthy scratch for the past four weeks.
However, the coach expressed some doubt about the availability of teammates Miles Sanders and Kavontae Turpin due to injuries for the upcoming game.
Earlier this season, Schottenheimer had criticized Blue’s work ethic, suggesting there were areas for improvement.
Reflecting on Blue’s progress, Schottenheimer acknowledged, “I’ve struggled with Jadon in the past, but he’s showing up. He’s really done well with the scheme we’re implementing.”
In college, Blue spent three years at Texas, amassing impressive stats with over 2,000 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns last season. Interestingly, his 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine ranked second fastest among running backs.
