Operation Midway Blitz Targets Illegal Aliens in Illinois

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Friday that over 1,000 undocumented individuals have been apprehended in Illinois during Operation Midway Blitz.

This initiative, led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) alongside the U.S. Border Patrol, was inaugurated on September 8th in memory of Katie Abraham. As noted in the DHS press release, the operation aims to remove the “worst of the worst” from the streets of Chicago and surrounding areas.

DHS Deputy Chief Tricia McLaughlin remarked, “Throughout Operation Midway Blitz, our dedicated law enforcement has secured more than 1,000 arrests in Illinois, targeting individuals such as pedophiles, child abusers, gang members, and armed robbers. We’re working towards making Illinois safer.”

Interestingly, some of these arrests involved illegal immigrants who allegedly “used their vehicles as weapons,” according to officials.

A few of the offenders apprehended during this operation include:

  • Rafael Alberto Trentino Martinez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, recognized for severe domestic violence against his three-year-old child.
  • Pedro Avendano Andres, another Mexican national, previously apprehended for escalating household abuse and child endangerment.
  • Aziz Kamal, a legal permanent resident facing charges of second-degree rape and indecent exposure.
  • Marco Geronimo Ocampo, an illegal alien arrested for multiple offenses including armed robbery and sexual assault.
  • Mohamed Fagel from Mauritania, charged with disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.
  • Eric Rios, an MS-13 gang member with a history of various arrests, including DUI.
  • Leonardo Jose Paredes Valera, apprehended multiple times for assault and theft.
  • Jesus Rafael Gonzalez Terran, arrested for battery and possession of a controlled substance.
  • Ludwing Jeanpier Parra-Perez, confirmed as a member of the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.
  • Isaac Josue Rodriguez Arguelles, previously accused of weapon-related assaults.

On the same day, a group of protesters outside an ICE processing facility in Broadview, a suburb of Chicago, were also arrested. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem mentioned that she and her staff faced denial of entry into the government building when they sought to use the restroom.
