Father of murdered 6-year-old threatens his son’s killer, who was released after 8 years in prison

A six-year-old murder case has taken a troubling turn with the recent parole of Ronald Exantus, who served only half of his sentence.

Back in December 2015, Exantus, 42, broke into the Tipton family’s home in Versailles, Kentucky, and attacked them while they were asleep, but his violence seemed particularly aimed at young Logan.

In a harrowing account, Logan’s father, Dean Tipton, confronted the intruder but was brutally thrown across the room after being stabbed.

Logan’s sister, Dakota, recalled how she was assaulted too—”He stabbed me in the back and then stomped my head,” she stated, remembering waking up to the chaos and seeing Logan in distress.

After serving just seven years of a 20-year sentence for assault, Exantus was released on October 1, 2023, having received credits for good behavior and education during his time in prison. The original charge was surprisingly not classified as murder.

According to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, his parole will last until June 18, 2026.

Dean Tipton expressed his outrage at Exantus’s early release, asserting his commitment to protect his remaining children, voicing that he felt the need to be on heightened alert now. He added, rather starkly, that he wouldn’t hesitate to confront Exantus should they cross paths.

Logan’s mother also voiced her disbelief, emphasizing her anger over the fact that someone who took her son’s life could be free so soon, particularly when he had brutally attacked a child in his sleep.
