Paul “Bonehead” Arthur Prioritizes Health Amid Tour
Oasis guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthur, 60, has stepped away from the band’s much-anticipated reunion tour to undergo treatment for prostate cancer. He disclosed the update in a heartfelt Instagram post on Friday, mentioning that he was diagnosed earlier this year and is currently progressing to the next stage of his treatment.
Arthur expressed his disappointment at missing gigs in places like Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney, but reassured fans that he is responding well to treatment. “The good news is that I respond really well to treatment, which means I can take part in this incredible tour,” he wrote. However, he lamented about missing these shows, saying, “It’s really sad to be overlooked at these shows.” Yet he remained optimistic, stating he feels good and is preparing for the South American leg of the tour.
Oasis shared his message on their social media, wishing him well during his treatment and expressing eagerness for his return in November.
Arthur, one of the founding members of Oasis, has been a source of excitement for fans globally who are eager to see the band back together. Many fans took to social media to send their support, offering well wishes and hope for his quick recovery.
This isn’t the first health challenge Arthur has faced. In 2022, while touring, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with tonsil cancer and stepped away from performing. “I was diagnosed with tonsil cancer, but the good news is that it is treatable,” he had stated back then.
By September 2022, he shared the better news that he was officially cancer-free, much to the relief of his fans. “I’ll keep posting about how it’s going,” he wrote during his earlier health struggles. “I’m gutting that I’m missing a gig with Liam and the band.” It’s clear that despite the setbacks, Arthur remains dedicated to his health and his fans, looking forward to returning to the stage when he’s able.
