Sports community shocked after Mark Sanchez was stabbed

On Saturday, social media was buzzing with messages of support for Mark Sanchez.

The former Jets quarterback was stabbed early that morning in downtown Indianapolis and is reportedly in stable condition after being hospitalized, according to TMZ Sports.

“Sending our thoughts and love to Mark Sanchez and his family. Wishing you a speedy recovery,” the Jets shared on X.

Sanchez traveled to Indianapolis for a Colts game against the Raiders, where he was set to commentate for Fox.

Pat McAfee, the former Colts player and current ESPN host, expressed his shock on X, saying, “This is heartbreaking and scary. Wishing you strength for a full recovery.”

Another former USC quarterback also reached out: “Let’s all send thoughts and prayers to Mark and his family!”

Keyshawn Johnson, Sanchez’s ex-colleague at Fox and fellow USC alum, posted his concerns, stating, “This is ridiculous! I’m praying for my USC brother, Mark Sanchez.”

ESPN personalities, where Sanchez started his broadcasting career, also showed their support.

Dan Orlovsky, an ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback, joined in with, “Pray for Mark,” while Kevin Negandy, the host of “SportsCenter,” stated, “Mark Sanchez is genuinely one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. He has a huge family of people who care about him.”

According to reports, the stabbing incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. close to Lucas Oil Stadium.

In a statement, Fox Sports confirmed, “Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis and is currently recovering in stable condition. We’re thankful to the medical team for their exceptional care. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark and his family during this time, and we ask for privacy for them.”
