Clemson Dominates North Carolina in Disappointing Matchup

Kenan Memorial Stadium started to clear out by halftime. North Carolina, with a record of 35-3, aimed to be a top competitor against Clemson, a prestigious program aiming for national titles, under the guidance of head coach Bill Belichick.

However, the Tar Heels suffered a heavy defeat, losing 38-10 to the Tigers, marking a new low in Belichick’s first year at the helm. Clemson seemed to ease off in the second half.

Belichick has now recorded three losses, totaling an alarming 89 points, with only victories against Charlotte and Richmond.

“The Tar Heels look so lost,” athletic commentator Bruce Feldman posted on social media, lamenting that things seem to worsen with each game.

Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, expressed frustration, suggesting that a swift exit from college football may be in order for Belichick.

This matchup was expected to showcase North Carolina’s potential as a top team, presenting an opportunity to upset a yearly contender.

But by the time the game began, enthusiasm had waned, particularly given Clemson’s disappointing 1-3 start to the season.

Belichick’s brief tenure at Chapel Hill has been tumultuous, featuring controversies such as lawsuits alleging he was hired without transparency and the challenges of managing a roster overhaul upon arrival.

Currently, at a record of 2-3, the Tar Heels are left with more questions than answers, making their bowl game prospects uncertain.

The unraveling really began with Clemson’s double-pass touchdown on their very first play from scrimmage.

Clemson scored 28 points in the first quarter, while Belichick’s offense could only muster field goals on their first drive.

Beyond the final two plays before halftime, every UNC drive ended in a punt. Clemson outgained North Carolina 488-270, with quarterback Max Johnson struggling at 42 yards on 213 attempts.

Looking ahead, North Carolina will face No. 24 Virginia before matching up against California next week.
