Mark Sanchez is currently recovering.
The former Jets quarterback, who is 38, was involved in a stabbing incident outside a bar in Indianapolis early Saturday morning, according to authorities.
Sanchez, serving as an analyst for Fox Sports, was in town for a Colts vs. Raiders game on Sunday.
After the incident, he was quickly taken to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, as stated by the network.
Details indicate the altercation took place just after midnight outside Rough Miller, leading to Sanchez being stabbed following a confrontation with another individual.
Carrie Swan, a bartender at the bar, mentioned that her manager, Scott Bennett, helped Sanchez immediately after noticing he was injured. She described how Bennett brought him inside and applied pressure to his wounds.
“It’s just crazy, really,” Swan added. “You don’t expect this kind of violence around here.”
A representative from Fox Sports noted that Sanchez is “recovering well” and expressed gratitude to the medical team for their excellent care, urging respect for his family’s privacy during this time.
Before this unfortunate incident, Sanchez had an impressive career in the NFL. He was the fifth overall pick in the 2009 draft, spent four seasons with the Jets, and earned the nickname “The Sanchize.” He led the team to the AFC Championship in his first two years.
