Reasons Aaron Boone might stick to his plan for Luke Weaver

Luke Weaver’s Struggles Continue with Yankees

TORONTO – Although Luke Weaver may not feel it, the Yankees haven’t decided to move on from him just yet, even as their bullpen faces some challenges in high-pressure situations.

After reaching the World Series last year, Weaver has encountered a rough patch this season. Recently, the team observed that he’s been struggling with his pitching.

So far in the postseason, Weaver has made two appearances without managing to record an out. He’s given up four hits and walked two batters, including one in a disappointing 10-1 loss against the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the ALDS on Saturday.

Despite this, manager Aaron Boone mentioned on Sunday that he won’t necessarily rethink Weaver’s role. He stated, “If that’s what you want him, that’s what you want.” Weaver himself understands how close he is to turning things around and feels physically good. Boone added that it only takes a clean outing for things to shift in a positive direction.

“But keep in mind where things are certainly going,” he remarked before Game 2 at the Rogers Centre.

The dynamics of the bullpen aren’t set in stone, as evidenced by Kamilo Doval’s impressive two perfect innings during Game 1. The team needs every player to contribute to achieve their goals.

“Different days call for different pitchers in high-leverage spots depending on the game,” Boone noted, adding that all playoff games tend to carry that intensity.

Meanwhile, Weaver expressed eagerness to reset his approach. He mentioned, “It’s just trying to make adjustments. They’ve been a lot lately.” In the end, he plans to focus on what he believes is best for his performance moving forward.
