FBI Director Promises Justice Following Attack on DHS Agents
FBI director Kash Patel is vowing justice after two suspects reportedly put a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agent’s vehicle in jeopardy across the nation.
The individuals involved, Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Lewis, have been labeled domestic terrorists by the DHS, following an alleged ambush on agents in Chicago this past Saturday.
Martinez was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, as noted in a DHS statement. She reportedly triggered a defensive response from a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent and has since been released from the hospital and is under FBI custody now.
Officials reported that illegal immigrants targeted Illinois ice officials, using their vehicle as a weapon.
Santos Lewis allegedly participated in a vehicle attack against federal law enforcement. In a statement Sunday evening, Patel revealed that two suspects had been arrested for their involvement in these aggressive acts against federal agents.
“They face charges for assaulting federal officers with lethal or dangerous weapons,” Patel remarked, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. “We are under attack, and this FBI is committed to finding you and bringing you to justice.”
Sources indicate that Chicago police were instructed not to respond following these vehicle attacks on federal agents.
An FBI source informed Fox News Digital that this incident is treated as an attack on federal officials, which could fall under the Anti-Federal Officer statute. Reports suggest that both Martinez and Santos Lewis will face charges under Title 18, U.S. Act, Sections 111(a) and (b).
Authorities also stated that the situation has grown increasingly violent as more domestic terrorists converged, launching objects and gas at DHS law enforcement. In another instance, further arrests have been made for assaults on CBP following the refusal by Governor JB Pritzker to permit local police assistance in securing the area.
Federal law enforcement officials will be on-site at the Immigration Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview, Illinois, soon to restore order.
In a related situation, two other suspects, Miguel Escaleno de Loera and Widman Osberto Lopez Fans, were arrested in the Chicagoland area. They stand accused of deliberately using their vehicle to target and inflict harm on an ICE officer.
