In various blue cities around the U.S., especially in Portland, Oregon, protesters have been working to encircle ICE facilities. Their goal? To prevent federal officials from carrying out their duties related to illegal immigration enforcement.

During President Biden’s administration, over 10 million individuals entered the country without legal status. While neither Antifa nor liberal urban regions are entirely ignoring the law, they do obstruct attempts to enforce it, favoring a stance of non-enforcement instead.

Violent Confrontations in Portland

Federal agents in Portland have resorted to using tear gas and making arrests shortly after a judge halted the deployment of the National Guard. The influx of migrants has burdened local social services, contributing to rising crime rates and overcrowding in emergency rooms and schools.

ICE has been clear about its focus on deporting those with criminal records or existing deportation orders. Yet, it seems that doesn’t resonate with many who protest at the ICE headquarters, where they express their strong opposition to all deportations, even those involving known offenders.

The prevailing notion among some local leaders is that allowing these disruptions aligns with a misguided moral high ground, emphasizing community chaos over law enforcement stability.
