Whoopi Goldberg’s Suggestion on Immigration Profiling
During a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg made a provocative suggestion to illustrate potential racial profiling by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She humorously proposed that Americans might try darkening their skin and adopting Latin American accents to see if they would be treated like undocumented immigrants.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized that ICE agents would be prevalent during the Super Bowl this year. Notably, the event includes Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican reggaeton artist and American citizen known for his criticisms of ICE. He previously announced he would skip performing in the U.S. on his upcoming tour, citing fears of ICE actions at his concerts.
Joy Behar, another co-host, expressed skepticism about Noem’s intentions, saying she seemed to threaten attendees by suggesting she might target illegal immigrants during the Super Bowl. Behar questioned whether Noem would act similarly if a white artist, like Garth Brooks or Eminem, were performing.
Goldberg responded to this by questioning how anyone could really differentiate between individuals, stating, “How does she know who’s who?” Behar added that the Supreme Court’s rulings allow questioning based on someone’s accent or skin color, indicating a troubling trend.
Goldberg continued with her satirical suggestion: “Get a little colored butter and sit in the sun. That’s the first thing,” adding it might be an experiment worth trying to see if people can really tell who’s who.
Fox News Digital reached out to ICE for comments but did not receive a prompt response.
