'It Is Crucial to Give President Trump the Peace Prize'

Family members who still have loved ones held hostage in Gaza, along with those of previously repatriated individuals, have urged the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the Nobel Peace Prize to President Donald J. Trump. They expressed that “His resolve was impossible for many to say” and noted that, in the past year, various leaders and organizations have failed to advance peace efforts compared to what the president has done.

“From the moment of inauguration he brought us light into our darkest times,” the family shared.

In a letter sent shortly before the Nobel Committee announced this year’s prize recipients, the Hostages and Missing Family Forum wrote: “We reach out as a family that has faced unimaginable darkness, torn apart by the absence of our loved ones, with every empty chair at our table serving as a painful reminder of our separation.”

They emphasized that Trump has prioritized hostage recovery since taking office, highlighting his “unwavering commitment and extraordinary leadership” that resulted in the return of 39 individuals. For others, it provided the dignity of closure, a mercy that seemed out of reach. They remarked that his efforts also secured the freedom of numerous U.S. citizens around the globe, not just those of other nationalities.

As the situation developed, the forum expressed hope for an end to their nightmare. “We believe he won’t rest until all hostages are home, the war has ended, and peace and prosperity are restored to the Middle East,” they wrote.

This appeal fits into a larger narrative: “Since January, he has effectively mediated various armed conflicts worldwide. While others saw chaos and violence, President Trump recognized opportunities for peace. Many speak of peace eloquently, yet he has achieved it,” they stated, adding that his tangible outcomes “have saved countless lives.”

The family contended that their situation reflects Alfred Nobel’s mission to recognize those who contribute significantly to society, whether through promoting peace or reducing military forces.

In light of recent decisions, the forum reiterated their call for action, expressing confidence that Trump will continue working to bring home the last hostages and restore peace in the region.

The family made one last appeal, stating, “We strongly recommend President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize due to his commitment not to rest until the last hostages are back home. His extraordinary contributions to peacebuilding warrant this acknowledgment.” They also expressed that this recognition would affirm the importance of decisive leadership and bold actions in the pursuit of peace, not just for their family but for countless others affected by his efforts.

This plea aligns with a broader recognition of Trump’s diplomatic efforts. Ronald S. Lauder, the President of the World Jewish Parliament, has promised to lobby the committee, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has indicated that he has formally nominated Trump for the prize.
