Mamdani Accuses Israeli Government of Genocide on Anniversary of Attacks
On the second anniversary of the tragic October 7th attacks, Zoran Mamdani, a prominent mayoral candidate, has sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his administration, labeling their actions in Gaza as a “genocide war.”
In a post on his X account, Mamdani alleged that the United States is “conspired through everything” related to the conflict.
This Democratic candidate, known for his left-wing views, acknowledged the severity of the situation by condemning Hamas for committing a “terrifying war crime” that claimed the lives of 1,200 Israelis.
Mamdani provided further details, noting that, due to the ongoing conflict, another 250 Israelis were welcomed into the Palestinian enclave. He stated, “After that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocide war,” claiming that the Hamas-led Ministry of Health reported around 67,000 fatalities in Gaza.
He expressed deep sorrow, saying, “Every day in Gaza has become a place where sadness itself has exhausted language.” Mamdani lamented the lives lost, adding, “I mourn these lives and pray for the crushed families. Our government has been conspiring through it.”
Moreover, he called for an end to what he described as “occupying and apartheid,” advocating for peace through diplomacy rather than “war crimes.”
Mamdani’s stance has previously drawn criticism from local lawmakers regarding his views on Israel. Earlier this year, he opted out of a state resolution that celebrated Israel on its 77th anniversary and claimed that the campaign spoke in support of it during a voting session, but he declined to back a resolution denouncing the Holocaust. He remains firm in his position of recognizing Israel not as a Jewish state, but as a “state with equal rights.”
