The Immigration Debate Takes a Personal Turn

The immigration discussion in Washington took a sudden and unexpected turn.

Top aides from the White House, particularly Steven Cheung, took to social media to mock Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, using some rather suggestive language after she targeted Steven Miller’s height.

In a statement on his X account, Cheung said, “@aoc sounds like it’s often used for shorter things in life,” even adding hand emojis as if to pinch something. This jab followed Ocasio-Cortez’s comments over the weekend, where she described Miller as “4’10” and a “clown” on social media.

During a live Instagram session, the Bronx and Queens representative claimed, “I’ve never seen that guy in real life, but he looks like 4’10.” She added that his anger made him look even shorter, saying, “And he appears to be mad at the fact that he is 4’10.”

Miller, unfazed, responded to the mockery, stating he’s taller than what Democrats portray. “Well, we knew her brain wasn’t going well,” he commented on Monday night during an interview, adding, “Now we know that her eyes don’t work, so she’s confused, right?”

He further noted, “Every time she appears on TV, the Republican approval rate increases and the Democratic approval rate decreases. That woman is a walking nightmare.”

Ocasio-Cortez, age 35, followed up with her own comments, expressing disbelief that the remarks went live, saying, “I can’t believe they aired this and he let her hear it live.”

Miller, who is 40, has long been criticized for his involvement in President Trump’s stringent immigration policies, while Cheung, age 43, has also had his share of tense exchanges with the media.

Back in May, Cheung clashed with a reporter from HuffPost, insisting that the White House was sufficiently transparent. “If you think we’re not transparent, you have to be really stupid,” he exclaimed. “The president regularly has multiple press outlets each day.”

Just last month, Cheung labeled another reporter a “pea-sized brain” over speculations regarding Trump’s health during Pope Francis’ funeral.
