Tyrone Tracy moving closer to returning to the Giants after shoulder injury

Return of Tyron Tracy Jr. Looks Promising

Tyron Tracy Jr. may have a good chance to make his return for Thursday night’s game against the Eagles. That could be a relief for rookie Camskattebo, especially after a tough outing where he lost the ball due to a fumble in the fifth week against the Saints.

Tracy has missed the last two games after suffering a partially dislocated shoulder in the third week. Interestingly, he didn’t have the best start before his injury—just 68 yards from 22 rushing attempts in those games.

In more positive news, as a rookie in 2024, Tracy racked up 839 rushing yards and has set his sights on a realistic goal of 1,500 yards this season.

This week, there won’t be any actual practice to assess if Tracy is ready to take on the responsibilities of an NFL running back. “I think I’m heading in the right direction,” he remarked on Tuesday, adding, “Of course, I want to be there. We’re still figuring this out.”

As for Tracy’s absence, Skattebo has taken on the role with mixed results. He’s managed two rushing touchdowns and currently leads the team with 240 rushing yards, but he averages only 3.8 yards per carry. His performance against the Saints cost the Giants valuable points.

In a particularly tough moment during the fourth quarter, the Giants were at the Saints’ 12-yard line when things went awry. Skattebo handed off to rookie quarterback Jackson Dirt, who had a fumble that was recovered by Safety Jordan Howden. He took it 86 yards to the end zone, sealing a 26-14 victory for the Saints.

On the sidelines, veteran Devin Singletary hasn’t been much of a solution either, with only 72 yards on 21 carries as a backup. Tracy didn’t confirm whether he feels completely ready yet. “If you see me out there, my confidence will go through the roof,” he stated. “I always strive to put my team in the best position. If I can’t do that, then I should probably step back.”
