Cleveland Browns Trade Joe Flacco to Cincinnati Bengals

The Cleveland Browns have traded Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals, making room for rookie Chedure Sanders to step up as the team’s quarterback for Week 6.

Dillon Gabriel, who recently started his first NFL game against the Minnesota Vikings, will continue as the starting QB. Flacco had been on the bench for four weeks, so Sanders is now gearing up for the upcoming match against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

During a press conference, Dion Sanders, famously the father of Chedure and head coach at Colorado, was asked about this trade. He appeared somewhat unfazed, focusing more on his own team’s challenges as they prepare for their game.

Sanders made a rather blunt statement to the reporters, saying he doesn’t care about the Browns or their situation. “I care about the Colorado Buffaloes. I’m focused on my job to win, just like they’re trying to do,” he remarked, seemingly dismissing the implications of Flacco’s move.

The Browns are looking to shake things up after an underwhelming start, with Flacco’s record standing at 1-3. He completed 58.1% of his passes during that time, totaling two touchdowns but also throwing six interceptions. His performance evidently didn’t meet expectations, prompting coach Kevin Stefanski to make this significant change.

Gabriel himself had a decent first start, throwing for 190 yards and two touchdowns against the Vikings, although they lost 21-17, with the final moments proving dramatic.

As for the Bengals, they are also in need of a solid quarterback after Jake Browning faced struggles following the injury to Joe Burrow, who is expected to be out for the remainder of the season. The move to acquire Flacco indicates their urgency to stabilize the position.

Whether Flacco will start immediately for Cincinnati is yet to be seen, but it seems likely he will be taking the field against Browning in their upcoming games.
