Nicole Kidman Navigates Divorce with Support from Her Daughters
Nicole Kidman is leaning on her teenage daughters to help her through her divorce from Keith Urban. On September 30, she filed the paperwork, officially ending their 19-year marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” and ongoing “marital difficulties,” according to court documents.
Kidman marked September 30 as the separation date. While the announcement might have caught fans off guard, sources close to the couple indicate that the split was anticipated after a long period of issues.
In her divorce filings, Kidman requested to be recognized as the primary custodian for her daughters, Sunday and Faith. She proposed a parenting plan that would grant her 306 days with the girls each year, with Urban having 59 days.
One insider noted that “it wasn’t really a secret,” mentioning that they had been “separated for some time.” Those familiar with Urban felt that the breakup had become somewhat unavoidable.
Since the split, Kidman and her daughters, 17-year-old Sunday and 14-year-old Faith, have been seen enjoying events together, like the Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week. In August, reports suggested that the trio had grown “inseparable,” sharing a lot of time together throughout the summer.
Kidman frequently shares glimpses into their lives on Instagram. In a recent post reflecting on summer memories, Urban was notably absent from the pictures, which drew some attention. She had captioned it: “Summer memories ❤️ Now back to school ✨.”
Earlier this summer, Kidman expressed to a magazine how much she values her role as a mother. “I’m very close to both of my daughters,” she stated. She enjoys having teenage girls and admires their strength in navigating the challenges of that age. “I’m always amazed at what they deal with,” she remarked.
Kidman has even indicated that sharing clothes is on the horizon in their household. She mentioned that she saves her red carpet dresses for her daughters, considering them “museum pieces” and delighting in the idea of a style exchange.
Kidman’s journey through this transition is supported heavily by her family, and it seems she’s determined to find her path forward with her daughters by her side.
