Browns' Shedeur Sanders responds to Joe Flacco trade

Cleveland Browns Trade Flacco, Paving the Way for Shedeur Sanders

The Cleveland Browns made a significant move on Tuesday by trading Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals. This decision now opens up an opportunity for rookie Shedeur Sanders to step in as the backup to Dillon Gabriel, which could lead to some meaningful gameplay for him this season.

Gabriel had a decent performance in the Browns’ recent 21-17 loss against the Minnesota Vikings. He completed 19 out of 33 passes, accumulating 190 yards and throwing two touchdowns. However, the Browns struggled offensively, punting four times during the fourth quarter while hardly moving the ball.

Sanders, who has been quite vocal about his aspirations, believes he has the potential to surpass many current NFL starters. He shared his thoughts on Flacco’s departure, mentioning, “He was definitely someone I leaned on for wisdom, and I feel like he helped me a lot. His journey with the Browns was valuable, but everyone has their path… I’m happy for him.” He expressed a sense of surprise when he spoke to Flacco post-trade.

Despite being more seasoned now, with Bailey Zappe also in the quarterback room, Sanders is sure to step up. “It’s amusing. He’s older, but he keeps that youthful vibe,” he added, highlighting Flacco’s ability to adapt and stay light-hearted.

As the Browns head into their upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday, many are curious to see how this new dynamic plays out for the team.
