Cannabis Lawyer Arrested on DUI and Drug Possession Charges
A well-known cannabis attorney, who refers to himself as “the dopest lawyer in town,” has faced legal trouble after being arrested on charges of driving under the influence and drug possession. Recent court documents detail the incident involving Daniel Micah Mehler, who allegedly drove intoxicated through his girlfriend’s neighborhood in San Antonio, Texas, throwing objects at her house due to her “refusal to see him.”
According to arrest warrants, police were alerted just before midnight on Friday by a witness. When officers arrived, they noted that Mehler had a strong smell of alcohol and appeared to have difficulty speaking.
Officers observed that he was unsteady and had bloodshot, glassy eyes. Additionally, they discovered three small paper tabs inside a gum wrapper. While it’s unclear what these contained, the amount was cited as being under 20 units of a Schedule 1-A drug, which could include LSD, marijuana, ecstasy, or heroin.
Though cooperative, Mehler declined to take a field sobriety test and was subsequently taken into custody. He is facing charges for possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated. He has since been released on bail.
Mehler has positioned himself as a strong advocate for those facing cannabis-related charges and has over a decade of experience in criminal law. His website prominently features the phrase “The Dopest Lawyer in Town,” emphasizing his unique branding. Interestingly, this recent episode isn’t his first brush with the law; he had prior charges in July 2024, including sexual assault and domestic violence, but those were dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
Mehler also reportedly had a DWI arrest nearly ten years ago. He is scheduled to appear in court next month, which will be another moment for this controversial figure in the cannabis law scene.
