Tragic Incident in Barron County, Wisconsin

Law enforcement officials in Barron County, Wisconsin, reported a heartbreaking incident where a man shot his pregnant girlfriend and then fatally wounded her brother during an attempt to protect her on Wednesday.

The suspect, 17-year-old Marcus Hinojosa, was present in the apartment when the events unfolded. According to reports, when his girlfriend, 17-year-old Makayla Sadowski, arrived home that afternoon, she was shot as she entered the house.

Her brother, 20-year-old Tyler Sadowski, was also there with a neighbor. When they went to check on Makayla, Hinojosa shot Tyler at the door.

As deputies approached the apartment, they heard a gunshot. Both the Barron Police Department and the Barron County Sheriff’s Department responded, securing the area. A social media post later revealed that Hinojosa died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Despite the circumstances, Makayla’s baby was delivered as a result of the incident and is reportedly in good condition at a local hospital. Meanwhile, the young mother is said to be stable.

In a social media post, it was noted that there was a “disturbing” Snapchat video related to the shooting, but they are working with the platform to have it removed.

By Tuesday morning, a GoFundMe campaign had been started to support the victims’ family, raising nearly $14,000.

A relative expressed their heartbreak, stating, “On Wednesday, the day that changed our lives forever, my cousin was tragically involved in a shooting. In a heroic act of love, Tyler stepped in to protect his sister.” They described Tyler as a young man filled with kindness and laughter, always prioritizing his family. Loved ones have come together to mourn their loss.

The sheriff’s department extended their thoughts and prayers to the family during this difficult time.
