Texas Gunman Goes on Deadly Rampage
A shooting spree in Texas resulted in three deaths, with the gunman ultimately taking his own life, according to law enforcement officials.
The police received reports of a shooting in Sugar Land, located about 20 miles southwest of downtown Houston, around 1 p.m. Wednesday. They discovered a woman with multiple gunshot wounds inside a white SUV that had veered off the road, as detailed by the Sugar Land Police Department.
Initially, authorities suspected a street altercation. However, it later emerged that the woman and the shooter were related, police noted.
“This incident wasn’t random violence tied to road rage,” the police department indicated.
Two witnesses reportedly assisted in providing critical first aid to the woman, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Shortly after, around 1:30 p.m., an individual in a gray Ford Escape was seen arguing with a mechanic at a shop just 10 minutes away from the prior shooting site, according to Houston Police Department Lt. Larry Crowson.
As the suspect fled, he opened fire on the mechanic and another man who was recording the exchange from a distance.
Tragically, both men succumbed to their injuries.
The man behind the camera was the 35-year-old owner of a funeral home, his family noted.
Following the shootings, the gunman drove approximately 2.5 miles and was later found dead inside his vehicle from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
It remains unclear if the shooter had any ties to the other two victims.
As of Wednesday evening, no additional information had been released regarding the gunman’s motive, and the investigation is ongoing.
