Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season kicks off on Thursday night with an NFC East clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, set to air on Prime Video at 8:15 p.m. ET.
Last Sunday, the Eagles lost their perfect record after blowing a two-touchdown lead against the Broncos, falling 21-17. Running back Saquon Barkley had a tough outing by his usual standards, struggling significantly on the ground in the second half.
Let’s dive into Barkley’s fantasy football prospects for Week 6.
Fantasy Football Analysis: Eagles RB Saquon Barkley
Barkley remains a top-15 fantasy player across all formats this week, with 30 rushing yards, 58 receiving yards, and a touchdown reception that initially put the Eagles ahead 17-3 in the third quarter. Yet, the Eagles’ approach in the second half caused some concern. They only gave the ball to Barkley once, resulting in him having the least amount of touches in a game where he wasn’t injured—very unusual for him. This, paired with questions about the passing game, makes one wonder if the offense is experiencing a bit of an identity crisis after starting the season strong.
After an impressive 2,000 rushing yards last season, the NFL Offensive Player of the Year was expected to slow down a bit. So far, he hasn’t managed to clear 80 rushing yards in any game this year. Additionally, he’s dealing with some knee pain as he prepares for this matchup, though he claims he isn’t overly concerned. It will be interesting to see if he can make an impact in this rivalry game.
Will you start or join the PPR league for week 6?
Starting Barkley seems like a solid choice. Despite not matching last year’s incredible statistics, he offers significant value as a rusher and pass catcher. Plus, he has consistently performed well in Thursday night games throughout his career. In five such games, Barkley averages 86.4 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards, and one touchdown. Starting him feels like the right move, even as the Eagles are still sorting through some struggles on offense.
