Gaza-Hamas Leader Declares End of War
A former U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, recently participated in an interview emphasizing the need to move forward after the Israel-Hamas conflict.
In a notable development, House Republicans have nominated former President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. This decision comes on the heels of a significant announcement aimed at concluding the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Republican Rep. Buddy Carter from Georgia expressed plans to put forth a resolution for Trump as an honorary nominee. The president shared a preliminary phase of a peace agreement on his platform, Truth Social, stating, “This means all hostages will soon be freed and Israel will withdraw its forces to the agreed lines as a first step towards a strong, lasting and everlasting peace.”
Following a White House meeting, Trump mentioned that an agreement with Senator Marco Rubio regarding the peace deal is “very close.”
Reactions to the news have been positive among both Democrats and Republicans. “There’s no one more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than President Donald J. Trump. He has negotiated seven peace agreements in just nine months, in addition to the recent historic agreement between Israel and Hamas,” Carter noted in an interview.
Addressing the impact of the agreement, he remarked, “He has already saved countless lives, and the earth is forever grateful for his courageous pursuit of world peace.”
The Nobel Prize winners will be announced this week, with expectations set for Friday. Carter, who is also running for a Senate seat in Georgia, has plans to initiate a process compelling a vote on his resolution if Trump is not awarded the prize.
This process, referred to as a “removal petition,” would require House leaders to vote on the bill should it garner a majority of signatures, achievable if all Republican members support it.
It’s worth noting that several House Republicans have nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize since he took office in January. The last U.S. president to receive the Nobel Peace Prize was Barack Obama in 2009.
