Scott Jennings Shares His Feelings About Israeli Hostage While Praising Trump's Peace Agreement

Emotional Moment for Republican Strategist on Israeli Hostage Situation

Scott Jennings, a Republican strategist, became emotional during a recent discussion about an Israeli hostage he met this summer. His remarks coincided with President Trump’s announcement of a significant peace deal between Israel and Hamas.

On Wednesday, Israel and Hamas revealed an agreement that includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from certain areas and the release of hostages. Speaking on CNN’s “The Arena,” Jennings expressed belief that this development could stand as the “most historic” achievement of Trump’s presidency, particularly noting the imminent return of hostages.

Jennings reflected on the impact of the situation, stating, “This is probably going to be remembered as the most historic moment of either of his two presidencies: peace in the Middle East.” He recounted thoughts of Yidit Ohel, a mother whose son, Aron Orel—a jazz pianist—was taken hostage during the Nova Music Festival. “Meeting her, seeing a mother so distraught while waiting for her son, that memory will stick with me,” he shared.

“He’s going to come home, and Donald Trump played a role in that,” Jennings added. He characterized this potential release of hostages as an undeniable diplomatic win for the U.S., noting that it’s not just about Trump. “When you have a leader who offers bold and pragmatic direction, it showcases the strength of the United States,” he continued. His happiness, he noted, largely stems from wanting to help his friend Idit bring her son back.

President Trump described the agreement as both “historic and unprecedented,” expressing gratitude to Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye for their roles in facilitating the deal. During an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity,” he indicated that hostages taken in the October 7 attack, whether alive or deceased, are anticipated to be released by Monday.

While some hostages have been released since Trump’s return, there remain 48 individuals in Gaza, with 26 confirmed deceased.
