Brit Hume Believes Trump 'Deserves' the Nobel Prize

Hume Advocates for Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize Candidacy

Fox News analyst Brit Hume remarked on Thursday that President Donald Trump could be a strong contender for the Nobel Peace Prize due to his role in facilitating a ceasefire in Gaza.

On Wednesday, Trump revealed that Israel and Hamas have agreed on the initial phase of a 20-point peace plan, which includes provisions for the release of hostages held by Hamas. Hume shared his thoughts with Fox News’ Martha McCallum, suggesting that this accomplishment positions Trump as a potential nominee for the Peace Prize, particularly in light of former President Barack Obama’s award shortly after his election in 2008.

“Today is significant, and the president has plans for Monday and Tuesday, so there’s certainly a lot to look forward to. The discussion about the Nobel Peace Prize is quite intriguing,” Hume said. “However, it’s a bit confusing why he would seek that, considering the Prize has lost some credibility, particularly after it was awarded to Obama, who only had to get elected.”

Nonetheless, Hume noted that Trump appears to genuinely desire the accolade and appreciates the prestige associated with it.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been engaged in military operations in Gaza following deadly attacks by Hamas that resulted in over 1,200 casualties in southern Israel. The group has also taken more than 200 hostages, with 48 Israelis still held, including 20 believed to be alive.

Hume seemed skeptical about Trump actually receiving the Nobel Prize, even with his diplomatic efforts. “The president has made attempts to foster peace, and there have been various conflicts that have diminished, largely thanks to his efforts,” he noted. “If the criteria were based on Obama’s award, then Trump should definitely be in the running, but I’m not overly optimistic about that.”
