Denise Richards Testifies Against Estranged Husband Aaron Phypers
LOS ANGELES — Denise Richards is facing some tough moments as she relives painful experiences from her past. On Wednesday, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum filed a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers. This action came on July 17, during their ongoing divorce process, where she conveyed feelings of embarrassment over her ex-husband’s alleged actions that impacted their children as well.
Richards claims that Phypers leaked private nude photos of her shortly after he initiated the divorce proceedings. She told the court, “This has been incredibly difficult for my daughters, particularly with the naked photos.” She described feeling ashamed and noted that it even affected her ability to attend church.
The actress, who shares two daughters with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, informed the judge that Phypers allegedly stole her computer and shared private information with various media. A judge ordered Phypers to return the laptop within 48 hours of the ruling.
In a court ruling on July 29, the judge prohibited Phypers from sharing any personal or confidential information, including any intimate photos that were taken from Richards’ devices.
Richards detailed troubling accusations against Phypers in her request for a temporary restraining order, explaining incidents of alleged theft and threats, claiming he threatened to “disappear” her if she involved law enforcement.
Phypers responded, denying the accusations in a statement to People magazine. He labeled Richards’ claims as false, asserting they were being used against him to ruin his reputation.
During the court proceedings, Richards’ attorney pressed Phypers for how he obtained the photos. Phypers claimed he simply captured images of her phone with his own, arguing that the material was not private since, according to him, she had shared it with others.
He tried to justify his actions by saying that it couldn’t be an invasion of privacy, and when asked how he would feel if the situation were reversed, his response was that he would publish them himself.
As their divorce unfolds, Phypers is seeking spousal support, alleging irreconcilable differences. The judge granted Richards a temporary restraining order back in July, amidst troubling claims from her side.
Richards described a range of physical and emotional abuse, stating in court that Phypers had subjected her to violent behavior, including threats to her life. She recounted incidents where she felt genuinely scared and discussed injuries she allegedly sustained during their marriage.
Furthermore, she had hesitated to report the incidents earlier due to fears of repercussions from Phypers. He, on the other hand, again denied any physical or emotional abuse, claiming that her assertions were baseless and hurtful.
During the hearings, Richards conveyed her fear and tears as she spoke of various incidents, recalling a particularly distressing episode shortly after undergoing surgery where Phypers allegedly displayed violent behavior.
In response, Phypers suggested that the injuries Richards claimed were self-inflicted, asserting that her accounts were exaggerated. Conversations between them have been intense, with Richards expressing disappointment at the erosion of trust in their marriage.
Their tumultuous court appearances included exchanges about their relationship’s struggles, with Richards contending Phypers’ behavior has only intensified. Her testimony highlighted moments that made her question their partnership, as she has qualified, “I never thought you’d do that to me.”
As their legal battle continues, Richards remains firm on her stance against Phypers and the issues they faced together as a couple. The court case has certainly turned into a complex situation filled with emotional and personal revelations.
