Federal Agents Raid Soros-Funded Voter Group Amid Fraud Investigation

On Thursday, federal agents conducted a raid on the Ohio Organization for Cooperation (OOC), a voter mobilization group supported by Soros funding, as part of an ongoing fraud investigation.

According to MS Now, FBI agents descended upon the OOC’s headquarters on June 11, also extending their efforts across Ohio to question members of the organization. Some agents issued subpoenas and requested the seizure of electronic devices. Sources informed CBS News that this operation was related to fraud inquiries.

This raid is seen as a significant moment in the Trump administration’s increased use of federal law enforcement to probe allegations of voter and election-related fraud. Such actions have been welcomed by conservatives who argue that these issues have been insufficiently addressed, while Democrats and voting rights advocates contend that it effectively weaponizes the FBI against liberal voter registration initiatives.

OOC, a nonprofit closely allied with the Ohio Democratic Party, actively engages in voter mobilization and registration. The organization has a notable presence in referenda, backed by a network of substantial donors, including the Soros family’s philanthropic contributions.

The Justice Department has refrained from sharing specifics about the investigations. An official remarked, “Search warrants are issued by judges, and those involved can’t access the affidavit until charges are filed. Thus, what the organization and others have said is merely speculation.”

OOC previously spent significant amounts opposing Republican-led initiatives, such as a successful campaign against abortion rights amendments in 2023 and spending another $300,000 on redistricting efforts. The organization sustains its activities through substantial donations from high-profile liberal benefactors.

Tax documents point out that OOC reported over $10 million in revenue for 2024. Major funding sources include the Soros family and other prominent Democratic donors, such as the New Venture Fund and the Tides Foundation. The Soros Open Society Foundation contributed about $1.9 million from 2019 to 2020 alone.

OOC views federal scrutiny as evidence of the Trump administration’s politicization of the justice system. Prentiss Haney, an OOC board member, criticized the actions as tactics meant to intimidate civil rights advocates, stating that this raid served no purpose other than to create a “national spectacle” during a politically charged election period.

The organization faced scrutiny in 2017 when it was revealed that paid recruiters had engaged in fraudulent voter registration tactics. However, despite this, Republicans have struggled to provide strong evidence of widespread voter fraud in recent elections.

OOC was contacted for comment but did not respond.
