Joe Rogan Critiques Gavin Newsom’s Presidential Ambitions

Joe Rogan recently took aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom’s intentions for a presidential run. Newsom, in response, attempted to defend himself via social media.

As Newsom raises his profile nationally, there is growing speculation that he might pursue the presidency in 2028, especially following his unexpected exit as California’s governor.

“Everyone is leaving! You have the highest unemployment rate. You have the highest homelessness rate. You don’t have enough money. You killed Hollywood. It’s like Hollywood doesn’t exist anymore. It’s literally gone!”

During a podcast episode featuring retired Navy SEAL Jack Carr, Rogan criticized Newsom’s leadership. He noted the irony in Newsom’s desire to be president despite what Rogan sees as a track record of failures.

“You can’t destroy a city and then a state and say, ‘That was just practice; I’ll fix everything once I’m president,’” Rogan remarked, expressing doubt about Newsom’s capabilities.

Carr found the situation “crazy” but acknowledged Newsom as a skilled politician, a view Rogan was quick to contest.

“No, he’s not… there’s no integrity,” Rogan retorted. Carr then shifted his description, calling Newsom “smooth.”

“He’s a great Bulls artist… When confronted, he boasts, ‘We have the best of this and that!’” Rogan added. “But, look around! People are leaving. Unemployment is high, and homelessness is a crisis. Hollywood? It’s gone!”

This exchange went viral, racking up over 10 million views online.

Newsom, seemingly unfazed by the criticism, responded on social media, hinting at a desire to appear on Rogan’s show, ostensibly to clarify his stance: “Joe Rogan too. I’m mentioning this because he wants me to be on his show and tell the truth to his listeners.”

In defense, Newsom highlighted several aspects of California’s economy, including:

  • The fourth-largest economy globally
  • Leading in manufacturing and agriculture
  • Top spot for new business startups
  • Ranked first in technology and venture capital investments
  • The highest number of Fortune 500 companies
  • First in public higher education

“You can always invite me,” he concluded.
