Sen. Cynthia Lummis Reacts to Revelation of Government Surveillance

Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) attended an FBI news conference on Monday, where she was taken aback to discover that her communications were being monitored by the government.

During a briefing led by FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, Lummis learned she was among eight senators whose communications were subjected to scrutiny under President Joe Biden’s administration. The monitoring included Republican Senators such as Lindsey Graham, Marsha Blackburn, Ron Johnson, Josh Hawley, Bill Hagerty, Dan Sullivan, Tommy Tuberville, and Rep. Mike Kelly.

Reacting to this information, Lummis expressed her shock to Breitbart News, stating, “It is shocking that the FBI would violate our constitutional rights in such a way.” She admitted to having no prior knowledge of any such surveillance, saying, “Everyone there was shocked.” However, she suspects the issue might extend beyond the nine individuals named.

“Spying on Republican senators in their official capacities appears to have been an ongoing practice of the Biden-led FBI,” she noted. “There’s a law against this. When you’re violating the civil rights of Americans—especially U.S. senators performing their official duties—this is exceptionally concerning.”

Lummis referred to the situation as “fraud at the highest levels of government.” The FBI learned of this surveillance through a whistleblower who came across a memo dated 2023. “If it weren’t for that whistleblower, the FBI under its current leadership would never have known about this,” she remarked.

She added that there are many unanswered questions regarding other undisclosed actions by the Biden administration. “The FBI has its own encryption technology that can conceal information. This is corruption at the highest level, and we cannot allow it to happen in a free country,” Lummis stated.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, who was not included among the targeted individuals, attended the meeting and intends to investigate the matter further. He is reportedly furious and plans to take action regarding those involved.

Lummis believes the revelation underscores a larger pattern of insidious conduct within the Biden administration. “I think this suggests a broad Democratic-led conspiracy that reached the highest levels of elected government,” she shared. “They’re accusing Republicans of meddling in elections while they themselves have engaged in similar activities. It’s very disturbing.”

“We need to uncover just how far the deep state is willing to go to undermine our democracy,” she asserted.

Until more is known, Lummis and her colleagues can only speculate on the reasons behind the Biden administration’s surveillance efforts. “Did they think we had information about an FBI investigation? Were they concerned we would go after them regarding the 2020 election?” she queried, adding, “Your mind starts to wander in all sorts of directions.”

As the public becomes more aware of the government’s actions during the Biden era, Lummis is losing patience with Democrats who argue that Republican efforts to expose corruption are insufficient. “Everywhere we look, we see Democratic-led governments using the very tactics they accuse Republicans of employing,” she stated. “They created and utilized these tactics, yet they attempt to deflect by accusing others. It’s a troubling trend.”

Lummis concluded with a stark warning about the direction the Democratic Party has taken, suggesting that those who disagree are either unaware or naïve. “This is a serious situation,” she said. “We must recognize the implications and act accordingly.”
