Thibodeau Talks Giants-Eagles Rematch

Kayvon Thibodeau stirred things up with some bold comments ahead of the upcoming Giants-Eagles clash.

“Man, they’re the Eagles,” Thibodeau remarked on Thursday night, after helping the Giants secure a 34-17 win over them. It was during his appearance on the podcast “Speakeasy.”

As host Emmanuel Acho and former Eagles player LeSean McCoy reacted emphatically, Thibodeau seemed to realize that he was broadcasting live.

“Oh, that’s a tough one,” he said after wrapping up a game where he tallied three tackles, including a loss. “We put in the effort; they’re a solid team, but, you know, we needed this victory.”

Historically, during the Giants-Cowboys rivalry, former Giants player Justin Tuck would openly express his disdain, declaring, “I hate the Cowboys.”

But that fiery spirit seems to have waned as the Giants have faced more challenging seasons and rivalries have dulled over time. Today’s NFL coaches seem to prefer fostering a more relaxed atmosphere in the locker room.

Now, with players like Saquon Barkley, Azeez Ojulari, and Adoree’ Jackson from Thibodeau’s past in the Eagles’ lineup, plus the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field, it’s likely that his remarks won’t be forgotten leading up to the rematch on October 26.

Caution: Strong language used.

Giants coach Brian Daboll hinted that the cornerback rotation involving Cordale Flotte and Deonte Banks, which has been put on hold, might make a comeback later on.

This could simply be an attempt to motivate Banks, considering it sounds a bit far-fetched after Flotte played a significant role in their last game with a key interception.

“I trust Te, but we initially had a plan going into the week,” Daboll explained. “That could change based on how things unfold.”

Meanwhile, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky pointed out that the Eagles may be adjusting their offensive strategy based on Saquon Barkley’s positioning in the backfield.

Did the Giants anticipate any plays? Barkley wasn’t in the mood to discuss it, especially after accumulating just 27 yards in his last ten carries.

“Did we see it coming last year?” Barkley, a former 2,000-yard rusher, questioned. “I managed to make plays, but we need to adopt a mindset of not worrying too much about opponents’ strategies.”

Austin Schlotman, who has taken on the center role for the second time since joining the Giants, had an incident-free outing with 32 snaps following Jon-Michael Schmitz’s concussion.

Daboll reported no new injuries as of Friday.
