Luann de Lesseps Staying Active Post-Real Housewives
Luann de Lesseps, known for her role on The Real Housewives of New York City, has been keeping herself quite busy since stepping away from the show. She’s made appearances in various Bravo spin-offs, including Luann and Sonya: Welcome to Crappie Lake and Bravo’s Love Hotel. Recently, she starred in a Canadian drama series, Murdoch Mysteries, and kicked off her latest cabaret tour, “Welcome to the Lu-Niverse.”
Before heading to Toronto for her first show, de Lesseps visited Decider’s studio, sharing insights about her exciting projects and reflecting on some memorable moments from her past.
“I feel really glad to keep working in this capacity,” de Lesseps remarked. “Cabaret has been a lifesaver for me. I did take a break for some time, but it’s now become my primary source of income.”
She also mentioned her hopes for a new TV show, suggesting that fans may hear some announcements at BravoCon 2025, which is just around the corner in Las Vegas. She expressed her anticipation for a reunion with Dorinda Medley and Carole Radziwill at the event as well.
“I’ve been hearing that the OGs are eager to return,” she noted. “I hope there are some positive announcements coming soon.”
During her time at the studio, de Lesseps discussed her film experiences on Murdoch Mysteries and why she thinks her daughter is well-suited for the upcoming season of The Next Generation of New York.
In light of her busy schedule, de Lesseps was asked about her relationship with James from Bravo’s Love Hotel. “We really have a unique bond,” she shared. “He’s in Hawaii and I’m in New York, but we stay in contact. I always say it’s easy to go to Paris, and I just think he’s wonderful.”
Turning to her cabaret show, she described it as a big production that includes six team members, covering everything from music direction to hair and makeup. “It’s an exciting performance that revisits iconic moments, peeling back layers to share what actually happened,” she explained. “We even have a Q&A session with the audience where they can ask me anything.”
De Lesseps expressed gratitude for her fans, or “Lunatics,” as she affectionately calls them, saying, “I’m fortunate to work the way I do. Cabaret has certainly rejuvenated my career.”
When asked about future shows, she revealed that the next one would be themed around Bravo’s Love Hotel, diving deeper into the stories and music linked to that experience. She seemed enthusiastic about the creative process, saying, “It’s a lot of fun, bringing everything together for the audience.”
On her role in Murdoch Mysteries, she mentioned how she secured a significant part this season after a small role last year. “I was a showgirl in 1914, married to a villainous mayor. It was a delightful opportunity and quite different from my previous acting experiences,” she noted.
As the conversation turned more personal, de Lesseps talked about her familiarity with her character, likening it to her past as a showgirl on Italian television. “This role came naturally to me. I think they really tailored it for me,” she remarked, while acknowledging the challenge of adapting to a historical context.
When the subject shifted to her upcoming reunion with Dorinda and Carole at BravoCon, she emphasized her strong connection with Dorinda and mentioned that viewers might see her and Carol interact, even if their relationship isn’t currently ideal.
Discussing potential future collaborations, de Lesseps expressed hope that her daughter might join the next generation of reality television, especially with her strong talents in music and performance.
As for dream casting of future seasons of Real Housewives, she shared her thoughts about bringing back familiar faces and some new additions, hinting at the interesting dynamics they could create.
In closing, de Lesseps expressed excitement for her ongoing projects, noting she’s working on new music tailored for dancing, alongside her ongoing cabaret ventures. “I’m just thrilled to see where this journey takes me,” she said with evident enthusiasm.
