Aces Celebrate WNBA Championship with Emotional Moment
On Friday night, after a remarkable victory, basketball’s star couple had an emotional moment. A’ja Wilson, a standout player for the Las Vegas Aces, and her boyfriend, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, shared a heartfelt embrace on the court following the Aces’ win in the WNBA Championship. This win marked the team’s third championship in four years.
“You did it,” Adebayo could be heard saying to Wilson. In response, Wilson expressed her gratitude: “Thank you for believing in me, baby.” They even captured the moment with a selfie during their celebration.
Wilson, 29, publicly confirmed her relationship with Adebayo in February 2025, after rumors regarding their relationship began circulating the previous summer.
This year was especially significant for Wilson as she made history, becoming the first player to earn the titles of MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in a single season.
In their championship match against the Mercury on Friday night in Phoenix, the Aces clinched the series with a 97-86 victory, dominating the competition in four games.
Wilson’s impressive stats included 31 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals. In Game 3, she hit a critical game-winning shot just before the buzzer, and in Game 4, her presence was pivotal in securing the win.
Across the Finals, she averaged 28.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and one steal per game.
Aces coach Becky Hammon praised Wilson’s performance, saying, “You have Mount Rushmore. She’s alone on Mount Everest. There’s no one around.”
Throughout her eight seasons with the Aces, Wilson has clinched the MVP title four times and was named Rookie of the Year. Meanwhile, Adebayo, 28, is in his ninth season with the Heat, recognized as a three-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA Defensive Second Team selection.
Reflecting on their shared journey, Adebayo remarked, “I’m very proud of her. You guys don’t see the behind the scenes and the ups and downs… so obviously being able to have this moment with her is really special. I’m telling everyone as well, please be grateful while you’re here.”
