Breece Hall Signs Extension with Jets
Breece Hall expressed his excitement on Friday after securing a $45.75 million contract extension with the Jets, thus freeing him from the prospect of playing under a franchise tag in 2026.
“This is the first time I’ve cried since I tore my ACL,” Hall reflected, adding praying hands and crossed fingers emojis to his post on X. “This day was something really different for me.”
The 24-year-old’s new deal was finalized well ahead of the July 15 deadline, and it includes $29 million guaranteed. This places him as the third-highest-paid running back in the NFL, following Saquon Barkley of the Eagles and Christian McCaffrey of the 49ers in terms of average annual earnings.
Back in 2022, Hall faced a rough start to his Jets career when he tore his ACL during a game against the Broncos, cutting short a promising rookie season where he amassed 681 yards and five touchdowns prior to the injury.
He made a strong return before the 2023 season, kicking it off with 127 rushing yards against the Bills in Week 1, ultimately wrapping up the season with 994 yards on the ground.
In 2025, Hall rushed for over 1,000 yards for the first time, finishing the year at 1,064 yards. This milestone was significant, especially set against an offseason filled with uncertainty for many free agents.
The Jets showed confidence in Hall during March, as general manager Darren Mousey shared hopeful sentiments regarding his future. Although Hall had been the subject of trade talks previously, Mousey emphasized a positive outlook going forward after key team changes.
“Things are in a good place, and I have high hopes for Breece,” Mousey commented, noting that attention would shift back to Hall after the draft concluded.
Now, just weeks post-draft, that hopeful outlook has been solidified. Hall is set to continue as a focal point of the Jets’ offense alongside Garrett Wilson for the upcoming seasons.
