Protests Disrupt Kamala Harris’ Book Tour Event in Chicago

During a recent book tour stop in Chicago, former Vice President Kamala Harris faced interruptions as security had to remove multiple protestors while she was promoting her new memoir, “107 Days.” The event was held on Saturday afternoon and hosted by journalist Michelle Norris.

While Harris was discussing her book, at least one protester started shouting from the audience, prompting a call of “get her out!” The individual was quickly escorted away by security. Video footage captured at least two more disruptions, including a man shouting about genocide before being removed. The specific reasons behind these protests weren’t immediately clear.

Harris lightened the mood with a touch of humor, responding, “And please pronounce my name correctly…”.

This event wasn’t the first rough patch in Harris’ book tour. Since commencing her national tour late last month, she has encountered similar protests at various locations while discussing “107 Days,” a book that chronicles her campaign for the presidency after President Biden exited the race.

The memoir reflects her 107-day journey leading to Election Day, offering insights into the decisions made, staff tensions, and the political hurdles she faced during that intensive period.

Beyond the live events, Harris’ memoir and the surrounding buzz have drawn mixed reactions, even within her own party. An advisor for a potential 2028 Democratic presidential candidate expressed concerns, suggesting it’s odd for her to release what he described as “a gossip book,” especially at a time when people are seeking strong leadership.

The aide remarked, “It’s embarrassing for her and for all Democrats, considering she has been in office for less than a year.”

Former CNN journalist Chris Sillizza also chimed in, asserting that Harris’ recent media appearances reminded him of her struggles as a politician, suggesting she hasn’t improved much during her years in politics.

Criticism has not been limited to external voices. Democratic strategist Gary South pointed out that the timing of Harris’ memoir’s release is questionable. He noted that the tone of the excerpts indicates an approach where she seems to blame everyone but herself for her loss during the campaign. “For someone who thinks they might run again in 2028, this is a strangely negative and disrespectful book,” he commented.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Harris’ office for comments regarding the ongoing situation.
