Trump Mediates Peace in Gaza Strip
Last week, President Trump achieved a significant diplomatic breakthrough by brokering peace in the Gaza Strip. This agreement ended a violent two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas, which had resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and caused political upheaval globally.
However, European members of the Nobel Peace Prize committee opted not to acknowledge this achievement or previous peaceful resolutions facilitated by Trump with other nations like Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Interestingly, while the Nobel committee seems hesitant to recognize his accomplishments, other organizations appear to be taking note.
According to recent data, “Trump is more popular now than he was eight years ago.” In fact, polling averages from RealClearPolitics indicate that Trump has higher approval ratings for a second term than former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
As of October 13, Trump holds an approval rating of 45.3% at the point of his inauguration.
In contrast, Obama had an approval rating of 44.4% as he faced criticism over his administration’s dealings in Syria. At that time, Bush’s rating was even lower, at 39.5%, amid the fallout from Hurricane Katrina and the ongoing war in Iraq.
Pollster Nate Silver’s Approval Tracker presents a slightly different picture. As of October 13, he reports Trump’s average approval at 43.9%, while his disapproval stands at 52.3%. Silver points out that Trump’s current ratings seem largely unaffected by recent political challenges, including a government shutdown.
A recent survey from Quantus Insights shows Trump’s approval rating at 47%, higher than both the RealClearPolitics average and Silver’s findings, though 53% of voters disapproved of his economic policies. Interestingly, 68% supported his Gaza peace plan.
