JuJu Smith-Schuster Avoids Wedding Photo Delay After Game Incident
JuJu Smith-Schuster and his fiancée, Laura Crook, are relieved they don’t need to delay their wedding photos following a chaotic postgame moment. After the Chiefs’ 30-17 victory over the Lions, a scuffle broke out involving Smith-Schuster and Brian Branch from Detroit.
In a light-hearted TikTok post, Crook remarked on how Smith-Schuster escaped with just a minor bleeding injury, saying, “No broken nose, Chiefs win,” as they celebrated together.
The game itself was a strong performance by the Chiefs, but the real drama unfolded afterward. Branch rejected a handshake from Patrick Mahomes before confronting Smith-Schuster and knocking his helmet off. Chaos ensued as Chiefs running back Isaiah Pacheco stepped in to push Branch away. Smith-Schuster, after momentarily hitting the ground, quickly rose and charged at Branch.
As disputes escalated, Smith-Schuster approached Branch again. This time, Branch seized him and slammed him to the ground, causing quite a scene as players from both teams rushed to intervene. Smith-Schuster remained persistent, pressing on despite not wearing a helmet.
The NFL is now looking into the incident, and it seems Branch could face a fine, according to reports.
“He’s a great player and a huge asset to our team,” Smith-Schuster reflected. “I figured he’d shake my hand after the game and call it a day. Instead, he threw punches. But hey, we did our job and got the win—that’s what matters.”
Smith-Schuster suggested that Branch’s actions might have come from frustration over his blocking technique during the game. Branch, for his part, claimed the Chiefs were attempting to “bully” him, admitting, “What I did was childish. I got tired of things happening between plays that the refs didn’t catch.”
Lions coach Dan Campbell expressed his disapproval of Branch’s actions, emphasizing they were unacceptable.
Looking ahead, the Chiefs have a 3-3 record, but they could gain momentum with the return of Laci Rice after suspension. Meanwhile, the 4-2 Lions are preparing to face off against the NFC’s top team, the Buccaneers.
Crook and Smith-Schuster got engaged last year, sharing the joyful news on Instagram with a heartfelt message, “I thank God every day for you. Now and forever 💍.”
