Couple Reunited After Two Years Apart
On October 7, 2023, a couple held hostage by Hamas during the Nova Music Festival was finally reunited on Monday, over two years after their separation.
Abinatan Orr was released after two years and met again with his partner, Noa Al-Ghamani, who had also been captured in Gaza. Videos shared on social media captured Orr emerging from a van and waving to supporters, marking his release.
Other clips showed the heartfelt moment when he reunited with his parents.
“Noa Al-Ghamani and Abinatan Orr are finally reunited,” said a post from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on X, accompanied by an image of Orr kissing Al-Ghamani on the cheek.
Emotional Reunion
Al-Ghamani, 27, a Chinese-born Israeli student, was taken by Hamas for eight months before a complex operation by the Israeli Defense Forces rescued her in June 2024.
Footage of her abduction, which circulated widely, showed her being taken from the festival on a motorbike, screaming. Her family was deeply affected; her mother, who had a brain tumor at the time, feared she would never see her daughter again.
Tragically, her mother passed away three weeks after Al-Ghamani’s rescue.
Advocacy for Hostage Release
After being released, Al-Ghamani began to advocate for the release of others still held captive. “It’s a miracle that I’m here today, but we don’t have time,” she expressed to the UN Security Council in February, recounting the horrors she faced, including inadequate medical care and dire living conditions.
The recent release of the remaining hostages from Gaza came after a peace agreement was brokered by President Donald Trump, following more than two years of conflict between Hamas and Israel.
On Monday, Trump furthered diplomatic efforts by signing a significant Gaza peace plan alongside world leaders during a summit in Egypt, calling it a “great day for the world” and particularly for the Middle East.
