Giants Rookie Stars Shine After Big Win

A week can really change things, can’t it?

Just recently, the Giants pulled off a solid victory against the Eagles, winning 34-17 on Thursday Night Football. Rookie quarterback Jackson Dart, who had been struggling with a 3/1 record, finally broke through with both a rushing and a passing touchdown. Quite an impressive turnaround!

Oddsmakers at BetMGM now have Dart as the frontrunner for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. But he’s not alone; another rookie, Abdul Carter, who was the No. 3 overall pick, is favored to claim Defensive Rookie of the Year with +175 odds at BetMGM.

Dart’s preseason odds were quite interesting, starting at +2500 and shifting to +650 prior to Thursday’s game. As of Monday afternoon, he sits at -135 for the award, placing him ahead of Buccaneers receiver Emeka Egbuka (+210), Raiders running back Ashton Giunty (+600), and Colts tight end Tyler Warren (+650).

Egbuka, once the favorite in Week 6, suffered a hamstring injury during a game on Sunday and is expected to be sidelined for a while.

For a Giants team that had low expectations heading into the season, Dart’s rise has been one of the few bright spots.

Dart secured the starting role when it became apparent that Russell Wilson wouldn’t be ready to play. His debut was against the Chargers at MetLife Stadium, and while his performance against the Saints was rocky, he bounced back with a thrilling win against the Eagles.

Potential Ahead for Giants Rookies

Carter has shown versatility, capable of playing linebacker or edge rusher, even if he hasn’t registered a sack yet. His presence is definitely a plus for the Giants’ defense.

It’s unclear whether either of these talented rookies will end up winning their respective awards, but for now, the future seems a bit brighter in East Rutherford.
