Bill Clinton commends Trump for the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, saying he deserves significant recognition.

Former President Bill Clinton recently commended President Donald Trump for his efforts in establishing a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, asserting that the president and regional allies “deserve great credit” for their progress in negotiations.

Clinton expressed his thoughts on the impact of the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, highlighting the painful human cost of the renewed conflict. He found it difficult to watch and nearly impossible to rationalize the violence.

“We’re grateful for the ceasefire’s establishment, the release of the last 20 hostages, and the crucial aid reaching Gaza,” he noted. Clinton further emphasized that Trump, along with his administration and regional players like Qatar, played significant roles in maintaining engagement during the negotiation process.

He underscored the importance of turning this “fragile moment” into a lasting peace that offers dignity and security for both Palestinians and Israelis, stating, “I believe they can get there, but only if they collaborate.” This seems to be a notable shift, considering the long-standing tensions between Trump and the Clintons.

The feud, which began during the 2016 campaign, saw Trump consistently attacking Hillary Clinton, branding her as “Crooked Hillary.” Interestingly, amidst this backdrop, there’s speculation about whether Trump’s actions might warrant a Nobel Peace Prize.

Bill Clinton has previously criticized Trump, especially regarding his handling of tensions with Iran. He expressed doubts about Netanyahu’s and Trump’s intentions for achieving peace, urging the current administration to de-escalate the ongoing violence.

He also commented on the complexities of the peace talks, suggesting that under Netanyahu, Israel would not offer Palestinians a state, reflecting a divided and disorganized situation among them.

Clinton pointed out that while Netanyahu has sought to confront Iran to maintain political power, he believes there is a need to seek calm and resolution in the region.

He made it clear that while preventing Iran from gaining nuclear capabilities is essential, protecting innocent civilians is equally crucial. “Choosing an undeclared war where civilians suffer isn’t a viable solution,” he noted.

Following this, Trump initiated Operation Midnight Hammer, targeting uranium sites in Iran. Hillary Clinton subsequently acknowledged Trump’s role in the Israel-Hamas peace negotiations and hinted at a possible nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize should he succeed in achieving significant peace objectives.

“If we could get it done, and if President Trump was the architect of it, I would nominate him,” she stated in a podcast discussion, reflecting a seemingly softened stance toward him amidst complex geopolitical tensions.
