Chicago's Former Police Chief Calls Out Governor Pritzker for 'Ironic' Safe Neighborhood Video

McCarthy Criticizes Pritzker’s Safety Claims in Chicago

Former Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy took aim at Illinois Governor JB Pritzker for his statements regarding safety in certain neighborhoods of Chicago, particularly Little Village. McCarthy noticed a recent video where Pritzker claimed to feel safe in that area. “Little Village is largely Hispanic,” he pointed out, “and this year, we’ve observed about a 55% decrease in homicides there. So, it begs the question: where is ICE focusing their operations since January?”

McCarthy, who held the position of superintendent from 2011 to 2015, made these remarks while appearing on Will Cain’s show. He highlighted the irony in Pritzker’s assertions that he feels secure in an area known for violence and crime.

In Pritzker’s video, he expressed his comfort walking around Little Village, engaging with locals and small businesses. He also mentioned that former President Trump misunderstands the situation, stating there’s no need to send in the military as it’s not an imminent crisis, emphasizing that ICE doesn’t have the authority to “take people away.”

However, McCarthy found Pritzker’s claims disingenuous, questioning how the governor could feel secure while acknowledging ICE’s presence, which has led to numerous detentions of individuals with criminal backgrounds.

In connection with broader issues, federal agencies are ramping up efforts against criminal activity in Chicago. Interestingly, many Black residents in the city are expressing support for President Trump’s approach to enhancing law enforcement.

This trend isn’t limited to Chicago. For instance, a resident in Memphis, who initially opposed bringing in the National Guard, later admitted that they were mistaken after witnessing a significant reduction in crime following their deployment. Similar sentiments were echoed by another individual in Memphis who also praised Trump’s actions.

Even a citizen from Washington, D.C. remarked on the positive outcomes of Trump’s crime crackdown in their area.
